Urad dal in Bengali Style Recipe - Tenali Double Horse



Ingredients


  1. 200 gm urad dal
  2. 1 bayleaf
  3. 1 teaspoon panch phoran
  4. 1 dry red chilli
  5. 4 green chillies
  6. 1/2 teaspoon hing / asafoetida
  7. 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  8. 1 teaspoon fennel seeds paste
  9. as required Salt
  10. as required Sugar
  11. as required Mustard oil

Steps


  1. Boil the urad dal in a pressure cooker by adding some salt and the green chillies and water.
      
      After the dal gets boiled, whisk it well with a hand blender and add the turmeric powder.
  2.   
      Heat some oil in a wok, add the panch phoran, dry red chilli, bay leaf, and then add the hing.
  3.   
      Add the ginger paste and fennel seeds paste.
  4.   
      Mix it well and then add the dal.
  5.   
      Mix it well and add some sugar to balance the salt. Check the salt and add more if required.
  6.   
      Add some water if required.
  7.   
      Mix it well and bring it to boil.
  8.   After you get the desired consistency, remove it from the flame and serve hot
